Show the first 'hit' of 2014
Last night's finale of hit INXS mini-series INXS: Never Tear Us Apart was beaten on the night, despite attracting 1.768 million viewers across the metro markets.
Slightly down on last week's 1.974 million, another Channel 7 show My Kitchen Rules pipped the finale, by attracting 1.863 million watchers.
Channel 7 dominated the night from 6.30pm onwards when My Kitchen Rules kicked off and led into Sunday Night, which was the night's third most-watched with 1.684 million viewers. That ran into Never Tear Us Apart at 8.35pm. Overall, Seven had a free-to-air audience share of 41.9 percent last night.
Never Tear Us Apart is the first hit miniseries of the year, and the finale crushed Nine's Mayday Mayday – Terror On QF32 which attracted just 586,000 viewers. Even the ABC's Rake, which was also in the 8.30pm timeslot, had more viewers with 739,000.

The popularity of the show has translated into album sales, with the band's The Very Best Of going to number one on the ARIA Charts on Saturday night. Seven INXS singles also returned to the ARIA Singles Chart top 100.
In other TV rating news, Channel 10's coverage of the Sochi Winter Olympics peaked with an average of 825,000 viewers during the Women's Snowboard Cross final. It was a tough night for the broadcaster, with their reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance Australia pulling in a measly 313,000 viewers – pummelled by My Kitchen Rules in the 6.30pm timeslot.
So You Think… was 20th overall yesterday, behind even ABC's coverage of the Women's Australian Open golf tournament, which had 318,000 viewers during the afternoon session.
