Aussies Sweep International Songwriting Competition; Tones & I Scores Grand Prize

Australian artists have dominated the 2019 International Songwriting Competition with local heavyweight Tones & I taking out the Grand Prize. 

The Byron Bay-based songwriter's record-breaking track Dance Monkey took out the US-based competition's major prize joining a list that boasts the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Kehlani, Bastille and fellow Aussies, Vance Joy, Missy Higgins and Gotye.

Australia had the most wins in the 2019 competition, second only to the USA, with other big local acts winning their respective categories like The Teskey Brothers (Adult Album Alternative), Tkay Maidza (R&B/Hip Hop) and Harry Cleverdon (Peoples' Voice).


Other placings include Thelma Plum (second in the Adult Album Alternative category), Sophia Chesworth (second in the Teen category), Sahara Beck (second in the Unpublished category), Bec Sandridge (second in the Unsigned Only category) Grace Hughes (third in the Adult Contemporary category), Falls (third in the Americana category), The Vegetable Plot (third in the Children's Music category), Charm Of Finches (third in the Music Video category), Ivy-Jane Browne (third in the Pop/Top 40 category) and ASTON (third in the Unsigned Only category).

44 Australian acts have also been given honourable mentions including The Jungle Giants, Ali Barter, Hollow Coves, Holy Holy and CLEWS.
