With a little help from your friends at the Australian Institute Of Music
The music industry is one of those communities in which pretty much everyone wouldn't mind being involved, especially on the performance side of things.
There are few career paths out there that seem as rewarding (and, let's face it, risky) as one as a professional musician, but thankfully we're living in an age where aspiring instrumentalists and vocalists alike are flush with options and opportunities through which they're able to better pursue their goals than generations past.
Part and parcel of that is the existence of the Australian Institute Of Music, a long-time supporter of The Music and the creatives who contribute so much to our industry; they've just released a cute, colourful and, above all, informative cartoon highlighting the potential pitfalls awaiting those looking to follow their musical dreams, as well as a possible remedy for such situations — namely, investigate AIM's courses and widen your skill base and prospects by enrolling.
AIM is currently taking applications for its next Bachelor Of Music (Contemporary) course, kicking off in mid-May. The course, AIM's most popular, offers a broad array of practical and theoretical experiences in order to refine students' skills and industry savvy. Major studies include individual lessons and masterclasses (divided into instrumental groups), with the course also offering Performance Studies, Concert Practice, Genre Studies (including 20th Century Contemporary Blues & Rock, Rhythm & Blues, Soul & Funk, Jazz Standards, Australian Rock & Pop 1958-present and more), Ensemble and Academic Studies, all underpinned by a series of Associated (elective) Studies canvassing the realms of performance, production, management, media, technology and beyond.
