Not even Harry Styles is immune to the new, bizarre, and frankly awful trend of fans throwing objects at artists while they’re performing on stage.

On Saturday (8 July), the As It Was singer entertained the audience at Ernst Happel Stadium, Vienna, Austria when a flying object was seemingly thrown at him and struck him in the eye. Music News reports that Styles visibly winced in pain as he bent over and held his face.

According to fans quoted in news reports, the alleged incident occurred after Styles finished singing Sign Of The Times from his self-titled debut album.

A fan named Myriam was quoted as saying, “He still kept touching his face a lot. It looked like it hurt very much. It seems like he had to collect himself, and then he turned back to us and kept performing.” Sign Of The Times was the first song of the encore – Styles ended up finishing the show.

Last week, Adele addressed the crowd at her Las Vegas residency and talked about how she really feels about the current disturbing trend. “Have you noticed how people are like, forgetting fucking show etiquette at the moment?” she asked.

In a video captured by the Twitter account Pop Crave, Adele issued the audience with a challenge: “I fucking dare you,” she said, touting a t-shirt gun, shooting a shirt into the crowd after saying, “Dare you to throw something at me and I’ll fucking kill you.”

Adele’s threat came after a series of recent incidents that included P!nk receiving a bag of a fan’s mother’s ashes while she was headlining Hyde Park’s British Summer Time festival, American pop singer Bebe Rexha was rushed off the stage after a phone was hurled at her face, US pop star Ava Max promised that one fan would “never [be] coming to a show again” after she was slapped on stage and country music singer Kelsea Ballerini was struck by what looked like a bracelet at a recent concert.
