The Getaway PlanAfter three long months, Geelong favourite live music venue The Workers Club has opened its doors with a stellar line-up planned in the coming months.
Speaking to theMusic, director Steven Nichols is excited about getting the venue back to the top of its game.
"We’re focusing on music and getting the gig guide back up to scratch," he said.
"It was pretty damn good in May and June but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to postpone, cancel, move those shows."
After a sold-out opening night show in March which featured dance-indie act Northeast Party House, the local Council Building Department forced the venue to close up shop to install new facilities.
"There was a lot of early confusion and we were asked to cease trading to install disabled facilities and to fix some minor things raised by the building department," Nichols explained.
"It’s taken three months, a lot of dosh and a lot of stress…we’re pretty bloody happy with how it all looks. Now we are among the most disabled friendly music venues going around."
A number of massively popular Aussie acts have been announced to take the stage in coming months, which include The Getaway Plan, Holy Holy, Gang Of Youths and Born Lion, just to name a few.
