The first release through this new venture is out next week

Universal Music Australia division Caroline Australia have announced a partnership with one of the UK's premier independent labels Tru Thoughts.

Caroline will now release albums from artists signed to the UK imprint, which is a predominantly electronic label and current home of Alice Russell and Aussies Kylie Auldist and the solo project of The Bamboos' Lance Ferguson, Lanu.

The first release under this new partnership will be the latest record from British producer Will Holland – otherwise known as Quantic. His record Magnetica will be out on Friday 9 May. The LP will feature guest appearances from label-mate Alice Russell plus Australian-based, African-soul artist Dereb The Ambassador.

Of the partnership with the respected UK label, Caroline's General Manager Tim Janes told theMusic.com.au that the decision was a no-brainer.

“We've always admired what Tru Thoughts have done and the artists they work with, so when the opportunity came up  to work with Paul Jonas and his team it was a very easy conversation to have,” Janes said.

“We're rapt to add Tru Thoughts to our list of label partners and look forward getting stuck into working with their brilliant roster of artists.”

Caroline was launched by UMA in May last year, with the likes of Cooking Vinyl, Dine Alone, Spunk and Popfrenzy its initial label partners. Its roster includes Vivid LIVE-bound St Vincent, current buzz band Glass Animals, Brisbane singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke and Melbourne pop-rock outfit Calling All Cars.
