DJ Lloyd and CC:DISCO! have fell victim to the trap and fans have started to call for lock systems on DJ decks to ensure the safety of the gear.

DJ Lloyd has posted on Instagram with shocking footage showing a fan front row at his gig stealing his hard drive directly from a CDJ while he was performing.

The footage shows the fan approaching the decks and waiting for the perfect moment to pinch the USB and quickly manoeuvre it into his bag before walking away.

In the caption he said, "The only thing worst than a party recap is a complaining Dj however they’re out here stealing flash drives/music now so be careful everyone."

CC:DISCO! also fell victim to a similar trap saying, "Shouts to the person who took my hard drive while playing last year too. And good luck to this bro truing to be DJ Lloyd, you'll never be as good even with his tunes."

In the comment section on Lloyd's post fans have come to his defence saying, "Sure homeboy got the tracks but good luck playing them like Lloyd baby!"

Fans also began to call for lock systems on CDJs.

"This sucks. Pioneer needs to change where the flash drive goes in, should be on the side of where the CD used to go in."

While another tagged Pioneer and said, "@pioneerdjglobal needs some locks up on these new machines."

"Between this and @eliescobarnyc ‘s bent usb def caused by a patrons push, we need stronger frontlines built on booths themselves. Not separating the DJ from crowd and floor with a raised booth or any nonsense. Just better built booths and then dumbies have no chanceeee."

Others also commented saying they had similar experiences with one artist saying, "I’ll never forget SXSW having to start over. Lost so many songs/projects/edits. Years later & That shit still hurts. Sorry for whoever experienced the same."

Another said, "my biggest paranoia about usb’s is knowing that shit could be snatched up at any given moment. this is a wild stunt and I’m always feeling on extra alert when peoples arms and hands be waving over the booth when playing. theft in and around any dj booth is fucked up. I hope this person is called out."
