Three years after they last toured Australia, American punk rock icons Descendents will return to our shores.

Celebrating 30 years of Everything Sucks, the band are proof that the album marks a pivotal release in their catalogue—and for punk rock. Upon its release in 1996, Everything Sucks captured the urgency and directness that the Descendents have been known for since their beginnings in 1978.

While the tour will focus heavily on Everything Sucks, Descendents still promise to perform a career-spanning set of live staples and fan-favourites.

Kicking things off at the Barwon Heads Hotel on Wednesday, 3 June, the tour continues in Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast, before concluding the run in Wellington and Auckland, New Zealand, on Wednesday, 17 June.

A Spotify pre-sale will go live tomorrow, 4 February, at 10 am AEDT, followed by the promoter pre-sale on Thursday, 5 February, at 10 am AEDT – sign up here for access. The general sale opens on Friday, 6 February, at 10 am AEDT via the SBM Presents website.

For the tour, Descendents will be joined by some of Australia’s finest ragers: Pinch Points, The Shorts, 208L Containers, Rabbit, The Lizards, Running Out Of Nuns, Dick Move, Side Eye, and Wave Pig.

Reviewing the band’s 2023 show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre, The Music’s Mark Hebblewhite described them as “one of the most consistent, not to mention influential, punk bands on the face of the planet” before concluding, “There are very few reliable things in life – but the Descendents’ ability to put on a flawless show should be considered one of them.”
