More Dave Grohl More Dave Grohl

When you’re Dave Grohl - you have all the contacts in the music industry, you’re talented, and by all accounts, seem like a really cool human being - why wouldn’t you crash a band’s set at Coachella?

Dave Grohl made a surprise appearance during the Isle Of Wight indie rock group Wet Leg’s performance at Coachella yesterday. Every time the UK outfit plays their track Ur Mum, band members Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers lead a “time to let out your loudest and longest scream” at the break.

Teasdale had a pretty good scream going, which you can see in the footage below, getting the audience to scream over her. She jumped around and looked in shock to find Dave Grohl on stage, bringing his loudest and longest scream through Chambers’ microphone.

Dave Grohl is an outspoken fan of Wet Leg. “I am really excited about Wet Leg,” he said in a RockSound video interview last year. He added, “I consider them a rock band. They may not de-tune and wear corpse paint, but they have a bass and a guitar and some drums, and there’s people singing.”

Appearing on stage in shorts, and t-shirt and a safari hat, Grohl could’ve made his way unnoticed throughout the Coachella crowds looking just like any other spectator.

Wet Leg were nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize Music Award last year for their self-titled album. They shared their delight at being shortlisted by tweeting:

"We’re so freakin lucky that we got to make the album that we made. These past couple of years have been full of surprises and unexpected adventures. Here’s perhaps one of our fave surprises so far…Our debut album has been shortlisted for a Mercury Prize!?"

Little Simz ultimately won the award for her album, Sometimes I Might Be An Introvert.

Earlier this week, Foo Fighters revealed their first album and first new single since the tragic passing of Taylor Hawkins last March. The new record, But Here We Are, will be released on Friday, 2 June.

The band said that But Here We Are is a “brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year” in a press release shared by Pitchfork.

The first single, Rescued, is out now. You can check it out below. Pre-order the album here.
