American singer-songwriter, producer and founding member of the boy band Why Won’t We, Daniel Seavey, has rescheduled his forthcoming Australian tour on doctor’s orders.

Seavey’s tour was set to begin next Saturday (7 June) at Perth’s Rechabite. However, due to an ongoing issue with his vocal cords, which he said became “completely unusable” earlier this month and resulted in postponed dates in Europe and the UK, his Australian fans will have to wait until the issue is resolved.

In a statement to his fans in Australia and New Zealand, Seavey wrote on his Instagram Stories (in all lower case): “Hey guys, I got some pretty tough news yesterday. My doctor has ordered me to go on another 3 weeks of vocal rest to ensure that this problem completely resolves and never returns, which means I have to push back my shows in Australia a couple weeks.”

He continued, “I am so beyond devastated by the outcome of all of this and am so terribly sorry to everyone I am letting down. Europe, we are so close to having those new dates for you. My team and I are working as fast as we can to get those to you. I miss you all so much and can't wait to see you again soon.”

On a positive note, Seavey has already announced the dates for his forthcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand.

The shows begin at Auckland’s Powerstation on Saturday, 2 August, followed by Melbourne’s Forum on Tuesday, 5 August, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Wednesday, 6 August, Brisbane’s Eatons Hill Hotel on Friday, 8 August, Adelaide’s AEC Theatre on Sunday, 10 August, and Perth’s Rechabite on Tuesday, 12 August.

Earlier this year, Seavey released his long-awaited debut album, Second Wind, which followed his 2024 stint opening for Dean Lewis in Australia.

He said of the album, “Second Wind is about a boy desperately clinging on to his youth while life is trying to force him to grow up. It’s a very light, warm, and slightly introspective album. A ‘glass half full’ sort of vibe.

“When I made this album, I was going through a very hard time in life for a multitude of reasons. I noticed the second I started making happier songs, my perspective also started to shift outside of the studio. I started becoming optimistic again. I started hearing 'little me' in my music again and I loved that about it.”
