The post-Galaxie 500 duo bring their dreamy folk down under.
Following the disbandment of the masterful dream pop outfit Galaxie 500 in 1991, its drummer and bassist Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang stuck together, first recording as Pierre Etoile before changing their name to the far simpler Damon & Naomi.
The duo released More Sad Hits in 1992 on Kramer's Shimmy Disc, before moving to Sub Pop for two records – 1995's The Wondrous World of Damon & Naomi and 1998's Playback Singers. They have kept up a fairly regular recording schedule since – their most recent record being False Beats and True Hearts released in 2011 – but they have never toured Australia.
Thankfully the team at Room 40 are making sure that is no longer the case, announcing last week that Damon & Naomi will be in Australia this April for four shows around the country. Those shows are as follows:
Wednesday 10 April - Brisbane Powerhouse
Saturday 13 April - The Rosemount, Perth
Sunday 14 April - Melbourne, Toff In Town
Tuesday 16 April - The Vanguard, Sydney
