The InternetThe boundless nature of the internet's collective imagination can be a frighteningly overwhelming and often confronting thing, but it's not all violent My Little Pony fan-fiction out there — sometimes, its unpredictability and detachment from reality ends up producing some pretty spectacular stuff.
Take, for instance, Darth Punk: The Funk Awakens, a new fan-made flick/music video made by independent geeky-short-filmmaker Infectious Designer in which venerated Star Wars villains Darth Vader and the incredibly overrated Boba Fett (fight us, nerds) get the late-night luxe treatment and find themselves recast as stylish gentlemen of the evening-time in the aesthetic vein of Daft Punk.
"One day, Vader and Fett will recruit for the Dark Side, disguised as an electronic-music duo… they will be arresting ears and administering intergalactic rhythm and beats," a synopsis for the film explains. "The Rebels won't stand a chance.
"This is their music video, featuring 'DJ Gonk'."
To be honest, it wouldn't even be that notable a creation if not for the jaw-dropping production quality — seriously, director/editor/producer/visual effects artist Brian Curtin has simply outdone himself here, seamlessly integrating the kind of visual elements that would generally feel right at home in any given Daft Punk video. It's a cavalcade of colour and surrealism — and, yes, there are lightsabers, blasters and some good old-fashioned Force push/pull action.

There's also a wonderful short scene in which a pushbike-riding Darth Vader pulls along a skateboarding Boba Fett and it's honestly things like that which make it worth getting out of bed in the morning (he even dings the bell).
Darth Punk: The Funk Awakens stars Mat Powell and Walt Thomas as Daft Vader and Boba Funk, with additional players Katy Ward, Matthew Sumner, Ian Cunningham, Anthony Kitchens, Gabby M, Weston Markwell, Steve Prokop, Josh Sullivan, Mycroft Moody, Matthew Cichra and Callie Cichra.
The video's only a couple of days old, but it's already developing its own canon - Curtin has since uploaded a behind-the-scenes look at how the film was made, as well as a prequel piece, which you can check out below.
