Melbourne-based Aboriginal-led indie punk band and NIMA nominated act Chasing Ghosts are back, releasing a powerful new single called Amnesia Everybody and a handful of accompanying East Coast tour dates.

The band’s first new material since their 2021 EP, Homelands, Chasing Ghosts have reminded listeners why their music is so essential in the first place. Teaming up with ARIA-nominated producer Stevie Knight (Stand Atlantic, RedHook, Yours Truly) and James Paul Wisner (Paramore, Underoath) on mixing, Amnesia Everybody finds the group ripping out a catchy, immediate anthem with their always thought-provoking lyrics.

Along with the new single, Chasing Ghosts have announced a short tour for this October in intimate venues in Brisbane (The Brightside), Sydney (Bootleggers), and Melbourne (Cherry Bar) and signed a worldwide digital deal with Believe.

For the tour, the band will be joined by special guest, rapper and singer MUDRAT. You can find the tour dates below, and purchase tickets via Destroy All Lines now.

In a statement, Chasing Ghosts frontman Jimmy Kyle said of the inspiration behind their latest track:

Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter

Anthropologist W.E.H. Stanner talked about “The Cult of Forgetfulness”, and “The Great Australian Silence” in reference to non-indigenous Australians and their failure to acknowledge not just the atrocities of our past, but in also choosing to not think about them at all. Instead, a different history arose in Australia - one of negative stereotypes that victim-blamed First Nations Peoples for our own marginalisation and systematic decimation.

This song references the stark realities and historical data of this country’s background; that 50% of Australian massacres that were led by colonial police and often murderous politicians...and yet it is these same perpetrators who have streets named in their honour, heritage listed graves, statues, electorates, towns, and cities; glorifying their names and misrepresenting their reputations for sanitised and palatable amended versions of history.
