'Flowers' plants itself atop the ARIA Singles Chart.

More Miley Cyrus More Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus lands her first-ever solo #1 single in Australia and second-ever chart-topper, as her Flowers track plants itself at the top of charts this week.

Flowers (Smiley Miley/Columbia) becomes the 1122nd #1 Single in Australia (1940 to 2023), the 557th for ARIA (1983 to 2022), the 137th to debut at #1, the fourth #1 of 2023 (in the fourth week of the chart year also), the second new #1 of this year and the first to debut at the top since October 31st, 2022 when Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero swept into the top spot, plus this new entry at the singles summit also becomes 126th for the record label Columbia.

The new Miley Cyrus single is the lead track from her forthcoming eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation which is due on March 10th, while the track was issued on January 13th, the same day as her ex-husband Liam Hemsworths' birthday, as this is supposedly a diss track about him. The track has also landed first week at #1 in England, Ireland, New Zealand, Sweden and Lithuania (so far), while also entering at #2 in Germany, The Netherlands and Norway.

Miley has previously spent one week at the top of the singles chart in Australia, as a guest on The Kid LAROI track Without Me (May 10th, 2021), so this is now her second overall week at #1 in Australia, while Flowers is the third track with that word to plant itself in the #1 slot, after I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (with Flowers in My Hair) for Sandi Thom (10 weeks from Sept. 4th, 2006) and Sunflower for Post Malone and Swae Lee (3 weeks from Jan. 7th, 2019). The new #1 song also becomes the 719th by an American Artist (solo male or female, duo or group) to hit the top in Australia and now the third for this year after Mariah Carey (Jan 2nd) and last week for SZA (Jan 16th).

Miley's former duet partner The Kid LAROI just issued a new track on Friday called I Can't Go Back to the Way it Wasso it could be in contention for next week's top-singles-slot, while the SZA track Kill Bill is pushed down a spot to #2 this week after a single week at the top, the same spot her album SOS is also sitting at (for a fifth week), while another track in the running for the #1 slot sees a new peak at #3 this week, as RAYE and her Escapism track rises one spot, and is knocked off the top in Ireland by the new Miley entry.

(8th week), plus her Midnights set is holding here for an eleventh week, while in Australia both track are down two places each to #4 and #5 respectively, followed by a single place dip to #6 for the Oliver Tree and Robin Schulz version of Miss You to #6.
