More David Bowie More David Bowie

It's a fundamental problem in any film, TV show or video clip that juxtaposes a happening soundtrack with imagery of people engaging in hardcore physical activity -- the fact that in no world but the audience's can the performers actually hear the music that is so upliftingly spurring them on. We saw it in Footloose, and we see it in music videos on pretty much a weekly basis.

Audio engineer Mario Wienerroither understands the dichotomy at play, and has been diligently setting about recreating iconic video clips without their accompanying songs, to give us a better idea of what the scene would probably really sound like once the backing track has been removed.

In the case of The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and fellow Brit icon David Bowie, and their 1985 collaborative hit Dancing In The Street, it sounds and looks like this (in which "like this" is a valid synonym for "incredible"):

Although the Bowie/Jagger redux is Wienerroither's most recent Musicless Musicvideos effort, he has previously plied his silent skills to clips by OK Go, The Prodigy, Michael Jackson and Shakira, among several others. Check out his YouTube page for more of his work.
