“We look forward to seeing you at Blues On Broadbeach next year.”

Australia’s largest free music festival, Blues On Broadbeach has been forced to cancel its 2020 event due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Set to take place from 14-17 May, the Gold Coast event had confirmed Tommy Emmanuel, Karise Eden, Kim Churchill, The Black Sorrows and more.

“This difficult decision is in line with the Queensland Government’s legislation and Federal Government’s ban on non-essential mass gatherings, as well as the new international travel restrictions, making it impossible for the event to go ahead in 2020,” organisers said.

“Whilst every person involved with this fantastic free festival would have loved for it to go ahead, we must put the safety of our patrons, musicians, crew and wider community first.”

Blues On Broadbeach has confirmed it will return next year to celebrate its 20th anniversary from 20-23 May and in encouraging punters change their flights and accommodation where possible.

“We are all in this together and send our heartfelt support for the challenges facing our industries over the next few months,” Blues On Broadbeach said.
