Bluefest Triumphs In Pollstar Mid Year Report

Festival scores impressive results.

Annual five-day Byron Bay music event, Bluesfest has been honoured with some impressive results in the mid-year report from music industry bible, Pollstar.

The festival which ran over the Easter Long Weekend in March this year, came in at #14 on the Top 100 Worldwide Concert Grosses list, while the event site, Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm came in at #12 on the Top 50 Ticket Sales Reported By Outdoor/Festival Sites in the world. 

Over on the Top 100 Promoter's list, Bluefest ranked as Australia's third best promoter based on ticket sales (#45), after Live Nation topped the list — Chugg Entertainment finished one spot behind at #46 and Dainty Group came in at #81.

Bluesfest Festival Director Peter Noble said of the results: “Wow, what an achievement, these results really prove what level Bluesfest is at world-wide."

The news comes just days before the first line-up announcement for Bluesfest 2016 is due to drop at 9am this Friday. 

Tickets for next year's event are on sale now and can be purchased at the festival website.

Meanwhile, Melbourne music fans have plenty of reasons to smile as the city cracked the Top 100 lists for Top Arena and Top Club venues, as well as the Top 50 Outdoor/Festival sites. 

Rod Laver Arena was ranked the 32nd top arena venue, while The Corner Hotel in Richmond was named the 27th best club and Etihad Stadium took out the #9 spot for outdoor sites — The Palais Theatre also came in at #26 on the Top 100 Theatre Venues. 

Based on worldwide ticket sales, Perth Arena also came in at #25 on the Top Arenas list, while Sydney had a number of venues crack the list, including Allphones Arena (46) the Qantas Credit Union Arena (49) and the Hordern Pavilion (94), as well as the 97th top club in the Newtown Social Club.

Brisbane's Entertainment Centre also made the list at #55, while it was the only Aussie city to make the Amphitheatre Venue list, with the Riverstage which came in at #12.
