Only two iterations of the renowned variety show remain
Beloved Sydney-based rock'n'roll variety show Black Cherry is preparing to say a tearful goodbye to the city that has hosted it for the past eight years with the first of two remaining events for 2014 (and probably ever) – a Johnny Cash tribute show at Marrickville's Factory Theatre on Saturday, July 12.
Running from 8pm-3am for seven hours of inimitable rock'n'roll mayhem, Black Cherry will claim the whole theatre complex as its own for a showcase of fantastic bands, burlesque acts and rock DJs.
The Cash tribute will go down in the Main Theatre, and sees the country's finest rockabilly and Western musicians join forces to tip their wide-brimmed hats to the late legend. Expect appearances from esteemed personalities such as A Man Called Stu (ex-Zombie Ghost Train), Pat Capocci, Ezra Lee The Rock'n'Roll Piano Man, Miss Pia Andersen, and MC Mikelangelo as they put their distinct spins on well-loved Cash classics.
In addition, the night will be chock-full of other musical goodness, including appearances from “Melbourne's answer to The Pogues”, The Ramshackle Army, the garage surf-swamp rock of Los Tones, and Wednesday Night Fever house band Dave Eastgate And Boner Contention.
