Vance Joy pushes up Alternative Chart as well
Not content with drawing level with The Beatles last week, Iggy Azalea has passed a Mariah Carey record in the US charts this week.
23-year-old Azalea (who will turn 24 Saturday 7 June) has held onto the number one and two positions on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, with Fancy (featuring Charli XCX) and Problem (by Ariana Grande featuring Azalea). Last week she was the first (and only) artist since The Beatles to sit one-two with their first Hot 100 entries.
According to Billboard, there's only two females that have done it at any time in their career – Mariah Carey for one week in September 2005 and Ashanti, who managed five weeks at one-two in 2002.
Azalea's well and truly announced herself to the world in 2014 with her album The New Classic debuting at number three in the US, while it managed the UK top five and at two in the local charts.

Melbourne songwriter Vance Joy continues to push into the US and his track Riptide is labelled as the 'Greatest Gainer' on the Alternative Songs chart this week – a chart ranked by the airplay of rock songs and dominated by the likes of Coldplay, Lorde and The Black Keys. Riptide is up to 16 in its fifth week, with he team confident of a top ten placing in the upcoming weeks. There are just seven radio stations on the alternative radio pool yet to add the track.
Boy & Bear are just as strong and remain at five on the Adult Alternative Songs – formerly the Triple A – chart in its 18th week. Birds Of Tokyo's Lanterns is at 13 in its 13th week. The John Butler Trio have a minor jump in the same chart, with Only One up to 26 from 27 having peaked at 24 in its 13 week stint.
