Aus Drummer With Cerebral Palsy Fundraises To Play World's Largest Music Expo

Get Andrew Hewitt to the NAMM Show!

Though he suffers from celebral palsy, Tasmanian drummer Andrew Hewitt has been behind the kit for over 20 years and in 2017, for the first time, aims to play at the NAMM Show in California, one of the world's biggest music expos.

As the campaign on crowdfunding site OzCrowd reads, "In March 2013, Andrew went to the global drum education and motivational wizard Dom Famularo’s studio in New York and met with Dom, Mike and David Segal.

"While there it was discussed how they wanted to change the world’s views toward musicians with a disability, help create opportunities and give everyone a fair go. After all, music is for everybody. During that meeting, Can-Do Musos was born."

Hewitt and Can-Do Musos have been invited to the NAMM Show in January 2017 to open the centre stage, but as expected, Hewitt is faced with a number of logistical and financial challenges. The campaign aims to raise $3,000 to get Can-Do Musos to Anaheim, California, with about 75% of the goal still to go at the time of writing.
