He is pleading not guilty to the charges.
Tim Lambesis, frontman of metalcore dynamos As I Lay Dying, faced court on Monday (San Diego time) as witnesses gave hours of testimony regarding his alleged moves to hire a hitman and have his estranged wife, Meggan Lambesis, killed.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Robert Kearney ruled that there was sufficient evidence for Lambesis to be forced to stand trial on charged of solicitation for murder and, as such, the frontman will be arraigned on the charges on Tuesday 22 October, Associated Press reports.
The accused, who posted $2 million bail after spending two weeks behind bars, will plead not guilty to the charges. He will claim that the “roid rage” suffered while trying to wean himself off bodybuilding drugs were responsible for the decision to try and have his wife killed.
The court heard that Lambesis believed his estranged partner was trying to keep him from their three adopted children and was also angered by the fact that he would lose a significant portion of his income in a divorce settlement.

Lambesis has been accused of conspiring to have his wife killed by hiring the hitman in April of this year, paying the contract killer – who turned out to be an undercover police officer – $1,000 cash (of the $20,000 fee agreed upon) and giving details of where she lived, including security codes for her building, as well as ideal times for the hit to take place.
There is believed to be audio recording of the meeting between Lambesis and “Red”, the undercover officer posing as a hitman.
If he is found guilty, Lambesis faces a maximum jail sentence of nine years.
