A very big achievement!

It's been a very big week for Australian acts on the ARIA Albums Chart

This week sees seven of the top ten places go to local acts, with AC/DC's PWR/UP at #1, Kylie Minogue's DISCO at #2, The Kid Laroi's Fuck Love at #4, Delta Goodrem's Only Santa Knows at #5, Guy Sebastian's TRUTH at #6, Onefour's Against All Odds at #7 and Josh Teskey & Ash Grunwald's Push The Blues Away at #8.

Significantly, this is the first time that seven albums from local artists have landed in the top 10 since August 2016 when Human Nature's Gimme Some Lovin': Jukebox Vol II landed at #1, Gang Of Youths' Let Me Be Clear at #2, Hellions' Opera Oblivia at #3, Alfie Arcuri's Zenith at #4, The Avalanches' Wildflower at #7, Delta Goodrem's Wings Of The World at #8 and Keith Urban's Ripcord at #10.

Previously, this was achieved once in both 2006 and 2012, but impressively occurred at least three times throughout 2007.

The first instance of this was on 7 May 2007, with Missy Higgins' On A Clear Night landing at #1, Silverchair's Young Modern at #2, Kate Ceberano's Nine Lime Avenue at #5, John Butler Trio's Grand National at #6, Thirsty Merc's Slideshows at #7, Standing On The Outside: The Songs Of Cold Chisel by various artists at #9 and Belinda Emmett's So I Am at #10.

This then happened again on 3 December 2007, with Kylie Minogue's X at #1, Jimmy Barnes' Long Road Out Of Eden at #3, Human Nature's Get Ready at #5, Delta Goodrem's Delta at #6, Guy Sebastian's The Memphis Album at #8, Keith Urban's Greatest Hits: 18 Kids at #9 and Young Divas' New Attitude at #10.

The following week, 10 December 2007, Sebastian landed at #3, Tina Arena's Songs Of Love & Loss entered the chart #4, Goodrem moved to #6, Human Nature to #7, The Veronicas' Hook Me Up moved up from #11 to #8, Minogue to #9 and Barnes to #10.

In addition to this achievement, this week has also seen AC/DC become the first Australian group to have at least #1 album on the chart over five decades. They have also now tied with Hilltop Hoods' record of most #1 albums in Australia by a local group (six). Read the story here.
