Nathaphon “Bon” Jutathaveewan, the vocalist of Thai metalcore band Annalynn, admitted that he’d faked a cancer diagnosis to pay off debts. As a result of the news, the band said they’ve decided to “suspend all activities.”
As Consequence Of Sound reports, Bon shared that he’d been diagnosed with stomach cancer in July. He received financial donations, the band were booked to play new shows, and sold more merchandise.
The band and its record label, Melbourne-based Greyscale Records, reportedly encouraged fans to donate to Bon’s GoFundMe campaign to assist with medical expenses as the vocalist is “from a third-world country.” The information seen in the original GoFundMe campaign is here.
Bon made a statement coming forward and admitting that he lied about the stomach cancer diagnosis, adding that his bandmates and label weren’t involved in his decision to lie. The remaining members of the band shared a statement of their own, effectively distancing themselves from the vocalist.
Bon has since deleted his social media profiles. In a statement (via The PRP), the vocalist offered his “sincerest apologies,” “especially for both the deception around my health issues and the false claims that were made.”
He added that he deeply regretted his actions and “fully accept responsibility” for his mistakes. “I am truly sorry for the harm and distress this has caused,” he wrote.

He continued, “The problems I have faced stemmed from personal financial struggles, including debts from illegal loans and poor business decisions that I failed to manage over the years. The situation escalated to the point where I couldn’t see a way out, and I was placed under immense pressure, both financially and personally, which led to the mistakes I made.”
Clarifying that “no one else—be it the music label, friends, my family, or my bandmates” were involved in his decisions, Bon wrote:
“I am now facing the consequences of my choices and have learned invaluable lessons from this experience. I am committed to doing everything in my power to make things right and resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
“I understand that my words cannot undo the damage that has been done, but I want to humbly ask for your forgiveness. I am truly sorry for the pain and inconvenience my actions have caused, and I am deeply remorseful for the trust I have broken.”
In a statement of their own, the band shared that they held a band meeting “when suspicions around Bon’s illness first arose.”
The band added, “Effectively immediately, Annalynn will suspend all activities, including performances, merchandise sales, and any use of the band’s name in any capacity.
“We, as the remaining members of Annalynn, deeply regret the pain and distress caused by Bon’s actions.”
At the end of their post, Annalynn hinted that they might be done.
“The four of us are deeply saddened and disappointed by Bon’s actions,” the band’s statement reads. “We sincerely thank everyone who has support Annalynn throughout the years.”

Annalynn released their new EP, Failure Will Find Me, in March. They visited Australia for the first time last year and opened for Aussie metallers Void Of Vision on their Das Ende tour.
Annalynn signed to Greyscale Records last March. They joined a roster that includes Make Them Suffer, Alpha Wolf, Paledusk, The Beautiful Monument, and Reliqa.
