Young Australian Idol finalist Angelina Curtis has released a radiant new single, Stereo, which she composed using her synaesthesia.

Curtis sees specific colours when she hears certain chords of music, which she has been synthesising into beautiful music. She wrote her first song, Fire Between, at 10 years old, which earned her first Song of the Year nomination.

Stereo is an intricate piece crafted through the eyes of a teenager. It is dreamy, full of electric textures, flowy guitar riffs, echoing vocals, and electrical beats, which tie together with the song’s hypnotic atmosphere, perfect for late-night drives or in solitude on the daily commute.

Curtis said of her new single, “(Stereo is) a metaphor for trying so hard to go somewhere but making no progress. The delusional attempt to be better, be more, be seen, be at the forefront of someone’s mind, and eventually realising that you're just something in the background, like a stereo.”

Stereo’s lyrics paint a rich picture of adolescence, playing on the desire to be seen, heard, and loved. They draw on the first freedoms you feel as a youth, driving on an open road, and combat the troubles that come with a relationship that just isn’t working out, no matter how hard you try.

Curtis’ career has skyrocketed, performing live in front of an audience of 12,000 at Perth's RAC Arena and then live on TV for an audience of 1 million during her time on Australian Idol at just 15 years old.

Other ethereal singles crafted by Curtis, such as Danny Blue and Chaos, have each surpassed 150,000 streams, setting the tone for this young, multi-instrumental artist's future success.
