Amyl & The SniffersTen years ago, a little band called Amyl And The Sniffers formed in a sharehouse in Balaclava, Melbourne. They likely never expected to reach great heights, but with great songs, propulsive riffs, and a thrilling frontwoman, they’ve become one of the most successful punk bands to come out of Australia.
To celebrate their tenth anniversary, Amyl And The Sniffers are going back to the beginning, bringing their first two EPs together for a special release.
In 2016, Amyl And The Sniffers wrote and recorded their first EP, Giddy Up, in a single afternoon. After a year of backyard gigging and partying, they released their second EP, Big Attraction, in 2017.
Giddy Up/Big Attraction will be released as a definitive tenth-anniversary 12-inch vinyl edition, fully remastered, so fans can experience songs like I’m Not A Loser, Pushbike, Balaclava Lover Boogie, and Westgate in a whole new way. It’s the band at their earliest, and at their most feral and funny.
The tenth anniversary record will be unveiled in a gatefold sleeve, with Chris Sutherland’s 2017 band photo at centre stage. Plus, fans can read an exclusive new essay from singer Amy Taylor and witness never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes photos of those early days by Jamie Wdziekonski.
Giddy Up/Big Attraction will be released on Friday, 22 May, via Virgin Music Group. You can pre-order/pre-save your copy here.

“We recorded and wrote over the afternoon… we’d never played together before that day,” Amy Taylor commented in a statement. “It’s spontaneous, and fun and achievable in that time because to us it sounded more than good, and we weren’t perfectionists, and it didn’t matter.”
Reflecting on the anniversary on Instagram, the band wrote (in caps lock), “Thank you so much for being along for the ride, ten years is a long time and we never would have imagined where it has taken us now.”
Following the release of their early EPs, Amyl And The Sniffers released their self-titled debut album in 2019. That record was followed by 2021’s Comfort To Me and 2024’s Cartoon Darkness, the latter of which won Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album, and Best Cover Art at the 2025 ARIA Awards.
