The veteran guitarist was seen to struggle on-stage before collapsing behind the scenes
Venerated Aerosmith guitarist and co-founder Joe Perry has been treated by medics after collapsing off-stage during a gig with rock supergroup Hollywood Vampires.
According to multiple eyewitnesses and media outlets (including Billboard), Perry was performing in Coney Island with the Hollywood Vampires when he became visibly enfeebled during the band's first song. Widely circulated fan footage shows the 65-year-old string-smith having a visible time of things with his instrument, sitting on the drum riser and struggling to play, before heading off-stage while the band continues to play.
Following his exit about 9.30pm, he reportedly went into cardiac arrest. Although the owner of the gig footage reported that "FDNY and NYPD carried him off quickly", several other witness and media accounts indicate that EMTs attended the scene.
As Page Six reports, Perry was taken to Coney Island Hospital, and is recovering in a stable condition.

Perry was apparently in relatively good shape before taking the stage, even posting a photo of himself warming up with touring guitarist Tommy Henriksen to Instagram only a couple of hours before the concert.
However, reports suggest that, following Perry's departure from the stage, frontman Alice Cooper told the audience that Perry had been "very sick" prior to the performance.
The band are in the midst of their debut US concert tour, and are — at this point — scheduled to resume the road show at Kettering, Ohio's Fraze Pavilion on Tuesday night (12 July).
