Ace Frehley, the iconic original lead guitarist of KISS, passed away in mid-October. At the time, no cause of death was revealed.
The musician’s sudden passing came shortly after news that he had been put on life support following a fall at his studio in September.
“We are completely devastated and heartbroken,” Frehley’s family said in a statement. “In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth.”
They continued, “We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions and beyond comprehension.
“Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
TMZ reports that Frehley’s cause of death was blunt trauma to the head following a fall.

The Morris County, New Jersey Medical Examiner’s report explains that Frehley suffered a “fracture to the back of his skull, a subdural hematoma, and a stroke.” His death has since been ruled an accident.
In late September, Frehley was confirmed to have suffered “a minor fall in his studio, resulting in a trip to the hospital,” and a single show was cancelled. However, despite assurance that the rocker “was fine,” another post in early October saw the rest of his 2025 touring plans axed due to “some ongoing medical issues.”
Reports from various publications in mid-October stated that Frehley had suffered a brain bleed and had been placed on life support, with premature rumours of his passing having spread throughout social media.
“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley,” said the guitarist’s KISS bandmates, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, last month.
They added, “He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of KISS’s legacy. Our thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”
