"Legendary barely describes their place in Australian music, and after all these years, we continue to salute AC/DC.”

More AC/DC More AC/DC

Everyone expected AC/DC's comeback album to shoot to the top of music charts around the world, but the iconic rockers have also broken a few records in the process.

The band's 17th studio record, PWR/UP, has debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums chart making them the only Australian group to have #1 albums at least once over five decades.

AC/DC have also tied Hilltop Hoods' record of most #1 albums in Australia by a local group (six).

“A very big thank you to [Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Australia and New Zealand Denis Handlin AO], and all at Sony Music Australia, and everyone else in Australia who’ve put in their time, effort and creativity to get PWR/UP to #1," Angus Young said.

"Also a big shout out to all our fans, old and new. You are, and always have been, our guiding inspiration.”

"Legendary barely describes their place in Australian music, and after all these years, we continue to salute AC/DC.”

Meanwhile, PWR/UP is now the highest selling album of 2020 in the UK which overtakes fellow Aussie Kylie Minogue's Disco released last week.

PWR/UP has also hit #1 in New Zealand, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Scotland, Finland and Ireland.
