After weeks of speculation and rumours, the AFL has finally unveiled its 2019 Grand Final entertainment, with Aussie icon Paul Kelly leading this year’s performances.

It’s the second time Kelly will grace the event with his presence, having previously appeared in 2012 alongside You Am I’s Tim Rogers.

As far as AFL goes, you’d struggle to find a better musical pairing than Kelly, and the Aussie music veteran will be joined by Dean Lewis and Byron Bay-based breakout star Tones & I, whose confirmation follows an epic BIGSOUND showcase last night.

The all-Australian line-up will also feature John Williamson, who has been confirmed to perform Aussie anthem Waltzing Matilda, Mike Brady, offering up Up There Cazaly, a song that celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, and Conrad Sewell, who will deliver the Australian National Anthem.

“People have been asking for an all-Australian line-up and I believe it is great that we have such diverse artists that cover a very wide audience," Music segment producer Michael Gudinski said.

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan added: “The Australian music industry is as diverse and as strong as it has ever been, so to be able to have all these talented artists be a part of Grand Final day is fantastic. Australian performers who have broken through on the global stage mixed with award-winning artists and some of our most well-loved and well-known songs will be sure to make the 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final a memorable one.”

The AFL Grand Final will take place at the MCG on September 28.

Punters not attending the Grand Final who still want to take part in the event are able to gain entry to the free Premiership Party, which will feature a set from Lewis, from 6:45pm on the day.
