The 1975The 1975 have shared equally devastating and exciting news for their fans today, confirming that all 2021 touring plans have been cancelled but that they're now working on a new album.
The ongoing COVID crisis has resulted in the UK legends' axing all shows for this year, who said in a statement, "until we can be sure that we will be able to play shows in a way that is safe for our fans and our crew, we have decided the best course of action is to cancel our touring... "
The statement continues, "We're currently making a new album and look forward to seeing you all at a show as soon as it is safe to do".
In a separate post, frontman Matty Healy touched on the new record, adding that it won't be out "for ages".
"Unfortunately The 1975 live is not something for 2021," Healy wrote.
"I already love the new album we are making and I hope you will too."
The 1975 released their fourth album, Notes On A Conditional Form, last May which debuted at #1 in Australia following its release and was one of The Music's best albums of 2020.
Healy joined The Green Room with Neil Griffiths podcast last year to talk about the band's latest album and future plans. Check out the full The Green Room episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts (below) or wherever you listen to your favourite podcasts.
