The Sleeping announce hiatus
Long Island, New York based rock band The Sleeping have announced an "indefintite hiatus". They released five albums, with the last being 2010's The Big Deep. Read their statement below. We (The Sleeping) are announcing our "Indefinite Hiatus." We all remain and will remain great friends but the time has come in our lives to explore other aspects as individuals. Chris (Keyboardist) has moved to Colorado. Joe (Drummer) has moved to California while him and Paul (Guitarist) still run their well respected merch company from Paul's new house on Long Island. Salvatore (Bassist) is the proud owner of an amazing bar and a brand new Vegan/Vegetarian eatery in Seaford, NY. I (Douglas) tend bar at Sal's place and I have just recently joined a new band that has become my full-time project. The Menzingers announce release date
Rising punk rock band The Menzingers create a rousing sound featuring crashing power chords, rock steady drumming and anthemic sing-along choruses alongside powerfully poetic everyman lyrics. The group is set to release their Epitaph Records debut album On The Impossible Past this February 17th. On The Impossible Past was recorded at Atlas Studios in Chicago with longtime collaborators Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms) and Justin Yates. While the record retains all the raucous spirit of the band's earlier efforts sonically, it's a monumental step forward. "I think that 'Gates' is one of the most mature songs on the album," guitarist/vocalist Tom May explains, referencing the tender rock song sung by Barnett that truly transcends genres. "I hope it surprises people because it's not a straight-forward punk song with gang vocals or anything like that but it still definitely sounds like us."
