Vitriol Records celebrates its third anniversary this summer and kicks off its fourth year with the release of Ghostlimb's Confluence, hitting stores July 10. Ghostlimb features frontman Justin Smith, also founder of Vitriol Records and guitarist/vocalist of Graf Orlock. Confluence is Ghostlimb's fourth full-length album but the second in a trilogy-in-the-works which began with last year's Infrastructure. Confluence rips through speakers like a U-boat surfacing and lays down what is, to date, the most explosive version of the signature Ghostlimb sound. Bruising, vise-tight hardcore shifts from blazing speed-picking to epic, bluesy choruses. The rhythm section of drummer Alex McLeod and bassist Neal Paul Sharma is monstrously heavy. On June 15th 2012 Thorns will bring their brand of heavy hardcore to the ears of alternative music fans everywhere as they release their debut self-titled EP on Broken Hive Records. Unashamed to carry the mosh tag around their necks, Thorns have exploded onto the Melbourne scene in the last 6 months, pummelling audiences with a standout demo and honest live performance. Channelling the breakdown heavy groove of bands like On Broken Wings and Bury Your Dead, Thorns are setting themselves apart from many bands, playing heavy without the help of sample pads and gimmicks. Thorns EP was produced and mixed by good friend of the band Lloyd Carroll (Carpathian, Warbrain) at Itchy Brother Studios in Melbourne and mastered by Joe Carra (I Killed The Prom Queen, Blood Duster, 50 Lions). Providence, RI's post-hardcore/noisecore/whatever-core's finest, Soul Control, are back with a five-song EP (with a bonus song available digitally) that will once again push the boundaries of the term "hardcore." Guitarist Jim Connolly commented: "One more quirky cliche phrase on how this is our best material to date. I wouldn't say there's one direct musical influence on the sound of this EP but the fact that we're nothing more than a punk band comprised of people raised in the 90's is becoming more and more evident." He continued, "We tend to write in chunks. This chunk of songs seemed to all fit together nicely as an EP and we're happy that B9 wanted to release more of our chunks."
