On triple j Unearthed, major changes are underway as the team is actively “taking back the art of curation” in the era of algorithmic content.

Today, the national radio station and independent music platform revealed that it has launched nine new genre-driven programs, as well as New Music Hour—the latter run by triple j’s new Music Director, Claire Mooney.

With this year’s new programming, triple j Unearthed will be giving more airplay for emerging Australian artists, more opportunities for interviews and other exciting moments, and more reasons to celebrate homegrown music.

From First Nations storytelling to pop, to heavy music to folk and country, R&B, hip-hop, experimental sounds, and more, the station’s new programming line-up includes:

  • ALWAYS’ – a celebration of First Nations artists and storytelling

  • 'Crush’ – the home of pop music

  • Drift’ – the spot for guitar-driven tracks

  • Flow State’ – chill beats and ambient sounds

  • In The Pit’ – the heaviest songs from around the country

  • New Music Hour’ – as self‑described

  • Slow Burn’ – the best of folk and country

  • Spiral’ – experimental sounds and underground artists

  • The Blend’ – the freshest hip hop and R&B

  • Warehouse’ – high-energy club sounds and even higher BPM.

In The Pit will be programmed by Lauren Guerrera, Crush by Andy Gavrilovic, New Music Hour, Drift, and Flow State by Claire Mooney, Slow Burn by Sara Glaidous, Spiral by Tommy Faith, ALWAYS by Nooky, The Blend by Jerry Agbinya, and Warehouse by Kailyn Crabbe.

The full programming schedule is now live on the triple j Unearthed website.

In addition to the new music programming, Unearthed has launched the 2026 Forecast. The annual list spotlights ten Australian artists who the Unearthed team projects will experience a breakout year. It allows Unearthed and triple j to support these artists and make their rise a reality.

This year’s Forecast artists are Chloe Parché, Darcie Haven, DEVAURA, Drifting Clouds, Headwreck, Lyric, Newport, Radio Free Alice, The Tullamarines, and Yes Boone.

You can tune in to Unearthed via the triple j app and DAB+ and interact with the station via Instagram and TikTok.
