It’s official: The Dreggs have gone Gold. Give Myself To You, from their 2018 EP Seas Embrace, has awarded the Sunshine Coast duo with their very own Gold plaques.

Give Myself To You, perhaps an Aussie-fied Mumford & Sons-type folk song, soars in its chorus as The Dreggs tell a story of cutting your losses rather than completely giving yourself to someone. But with its handclaps and acoustic guitar, Give Myself To You sounds cheerier than the lyrics let on.

Posting about the achievement on social media yesterday (17 July), The Dreggs wrote on Facebook, “Well this happened!?! Give Myself To You has gone gold in Australia! We never thought we’d ever have a gold record!! So to get one is pretty surreal!! We are so fkn grateful”.

Congratulations to The Dreggs! You can watch the Give Myself To You music video below.

On Thursday, The Dreggs head to the UK and Europe for a run of headline shows, support slots for fellow Aussie folk-rockers Sons Of The East and a bunch of festival dates. In October, the duo will visit New Zealand for the first time, playing shows in Auckland and Wellington.

This month, The Dreggs embarked on their For Your Love Australian tour in the biggest venues they’ve ever played in, in honour of their 2021 release, Your Love.

Vocalist Paddy Macrae explained, “The track tells the story of a guy who is deeply in love with a girl, who only shows love and affection when she is intoxicated... while we were wasting time in the studio, we started jamming to a riff I was playing on the electric and some old lyrics I had written a while back.

“We decided to lay down the acoustic Zane (Harris, fellow band member) wrote, then the electric guitar riff, some drums and bass, then soon after we were left with the surf track Zane and myself had laughed about writing for some time.”
