Music Victoria has a new Chief Executive Officer, with Fiona Duncan being announced as the organisation’s latest CEO this morning (Monday, February 24th).
The appointment of Music Victoria’s new CEO comes following the departure of Simone Schinkel in December, with Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO) General Manager Kirsty Rivers stepping in as the Acting CEO during the interim.
Duncan will officially take up her new position on March 25th.
"Fiona's comprehensive understanding of the music industry, combined with her experience in local government and major events, makes her exceptionally qualified to lead Music Victoria into its critical and transformative next chapter," said Chris O’Neill, Chair of Music Victoria's Board.
"Her proven track record in artist management, event coordination, industry development, strategy and advocacy aligns greatly with Music Victoria’s commitment to supporting, growing and fortifying our vast live music industry."

Indeed, Duncan has an impressive musical career to her name, having spent 30 years working across artist management, event and tour management, publicity, and industry advisory roles, ultimately asserting herself as a highly respected figure in the Victorian, national, and international music industry.
Having first begun her musical journey in public radio and publicity, Duncan rose to prominence as the manager of Spiderbait, though many would also be aware of her work with the City of Greater Geelong. This association led to the launch of entities such as Mountain To Mouth, Geelong After Dark, and also Surround Sounds.
Elsewhere, Duncan has served on the Music Victoria board, currently serves as a board member with the Association Of Artist Managers (AAM), and has most recently worked as the National Live and Local Program Coordinator at the Live Music Office.
"I'm truly honoured and excited to accept the offer to be Music Victoria’s next Chief Executive Officer,” Duncan said in a statement. “With my diverse and valuable experience, I believe we can build a dynamic, inclusive and sustainable music ecosystem where artists, industry professionals, and audiences thrive.
“I look forward to working closely with our industry, partners, members, staff, and the wider community to strengthen Music Victoria’s impact. Let’s get to it!"
