Informed by feminism, queerness and postcolonialism, Second Idol traverses concepts of power and otherness. Stridently determined, Second Idol is a band for outsiders.In late 2025, the band released their critically acclaimed album, Mongrel. Embracing complexity and vulnerability, Mongrel is a gritty, guitar-driven album channelling 80s and 90s post-punk and alt-rock influences that examines themes of identity and belonging.Come and amp up the band before they jet off to the Northern Hemisphere and hit stages in Dublin, Manchester, Edinburgh, London and more.Second Idol has recieved support from NME, TheMusic.com.au, Post-punk.com, Backseat Mafia, the AU Review, Music Feeds, ABC Rage, Apple Music, Australian Community Radio (including 2SER, FBi, 4ZZZ, PBS, Radio Adelaide, 3RRR), Louder Than War radio and Radio X UK.
