This is one Ska Party and Double Album Launch that is too massive to keep quiet about!
Two legendary ska bands and one stellar DJ will be taking over The Northcote Social Club on the 26th of April to play three powerhouse live sets that is guaranteed to get the place skanking.
First to hit the stage will be Dean Hilson & The Ska Vendors who will be bringing to life their stylish celebration of first-wave ska in honour of acclaimed Jamaican saxophonist, Tommy McCook. Their debut show was played to a packed house at the Bird’s Basement last year and received rave reviews. Now they are back for a special encore performance with a new CD, “A Tribute to Tommy McCook - Volume 1” released through Transmitter Records.
Next up will be The Ska Vendors who will take to the stage and deliver their infectious sounds of early ska and rocksteady classics that is certain to get you on the dancefloor. The Melbourne ska stalwarts will also play a selection of catchy originals, including signature tunes from the album they released last year, Good Love Bad.
Closing out the night will be the legends of Aussie pub-rock Ska, Loin Groin. Loin Groin are celebrating the night with the release of their long-awaited, full-length album, “Damage Control” through Carm-Down Records. Their style, attitude and high-energy performance will have you on the floor from the first drop until the last.
Setting the vibe throughout will be Mohair Slim (3PBS Blue Juice) taking to the decks with all vinyl hits and rarities from Jamaica’s golden age of music.
