“The video mixes two opposing elements; hard, eternal concrete and fluid, impermanent water."
The latest music video from Brisbane-based electronic indie-rock outfit Strangely Enough “reflects the desire to smash concrete self identification”.
As explained by frontman and multi-instrumentalist Greg Olley, “we often use the brightest moments when defining ourselves, however, there are darker, less comfortable images that we hold of ourselves too.”
“Sometimes these thoughts hold us as much as the bright spots,” Olley told The Music. “This too, is untrue and should be smashed, bent and thrown off a diving board.”
Its accompanying clip, premiering today via The Music, illustrates that perfectly, thanks to director Joseph Burgess and Brisbane-based sculptor Kristian Fracchia.
“The video mixes two opposing elements; hard, eternal concrete and fluid, impermanent water,” Olley said.
“This symbolises the juxtaposition of defining ourselves through momentous, concrete events whilst being submerged in, and part of, a fluid and ever-morphing reality.”
