Melbourne funk-groove group Rigidy Rourke & The Love Dogs are just about to bust out their deeply danceable goodness on stage with a pair of hometown shows this week, but before they face the crowds, they've dropped the trippy video for their super-smooth jam Low Pockets.
The four-piece will launch the single at Northcote's Bar 303 tonight, as well as hitting Sea Shepherd Melbourne's Stand Fast Festival on Saturday 23 September. For good measure, they've also got a date lined up supporting Brian El Dorado & The Tuesday People at Baha Rye on 14 October.
Low Pockets was released earlier this month, and is the band's first new single since 2016's excellent EP Someone's Universe. It stands as a natural point of growth for the group, flexing their formidable neo-soul influences seamlessly intertwined with good, old-fashioned funk-pop punctuated by the euphonious vocals of Tina Behrsin — who also happens to be the subject of the song's title.
"Low Pockets is the affectionate nickname I dubbed Love Dogs keyboard warrior Tina Behrsin," bassist Rigidy Rourke said in a statement. "I wrote this song specifically for Tina to sing on.

"I was inspired by the raw and powerful vocal performance Tina delivers in her own band, Niine, and I wanted to capture that same performance in a Love Dogs song."
Mission accomplished, we'd say.
