"I wanted to address the light and dark in this song explicitly."
Sydney singer-songwriter Lisa Caruso has burst back onto the scene with a powerful new single and accompanying music video.
Shake Baby Shake sees her return with brooding guitars and a tight rhythm section and its accompanying music video captures the past couple of years, during which she was battling an illness.
"I think I spent more time planning the video than I did the actual song in the end!” Caruso told The Music.
“Shake Baby Shake relates to having an invisible illness. I wanted to show the struggle behind appearing completely well. And I wanted to have some imagery that displays a type of strength and resilience that is of course super important.
“Adam (DOP) and I ended up calling those hall shots the 'dream state'. They come and go, and appear again when it really counts.
With an album in the works, Caruso promises there’s more to come soon, but stresses the importance of teasing fans with Shake Baby Shake first.

“It makes the most sense artistically, and it’s pretty honest. I wanted to address the light and dark in this song explicitly. Nothing to hide here!”
Shake Baby Shake receives an official hometown launch on December 8 at Petersham Bowling Club, with Caruso also set to perform two other NSW gigs next month.
