Emergent Sydney six-piece Gostwyck have built a solid following over the past several months on the back of their warmly received debut EP It's All A Dream, and they're now ready to reveal the next evolutionary step for the band with their paradigm-shifting new single and clip Riverstone.
Filmed and directed by Marli Lopez-Hope, with editing from Aleisa Jelbart, the clip carries a distinctly vintage video aesthetic and an air of heart-wrenching purity directly tied to the plight of its young protagonist and his efforts to spare his family's property and its nearby dam from sale to faceless businessmen.
It's a beautifully put-together video, deftly complemented by the band's mellifluous, harmonic strains, gliding along effortlessly atop a surface of sweet, sweet folk-rock towards its horn-dappled conclusion.
The single itself is officially released tomorrow, 21 April, with the band setting off for a string of shows in support from tonight at Wollongong's Rad Bar. They've also got dates lined up in Armidale, Uralla, Erskineville, Katoomba, Melbourne (two shows), Newcastle and Thirroul.
