A “shattered” Tim Rogers has called off a massive SXSW party after he failed to win the papacy.
Australian rock music icon Tim Rogers is “shattered” at not receiving the papacy, according a source close to the singer/songwriter.
Rogers was not favoured to receive the role, but after media reports hinted he could be an outside chance punters backed him into the virtual favourite. Bookmakers shortened his odds to as low as 4/1.
“After the first plume of black smoke we thought it was shaping up perfectly for Tim,” the source told SPA Confidential. “We were waiting for the call and Tim had his robes ready, but it just never came and we were shattered to see Francis walk out as the Pope.”
Rogers, who had previously been seen coming out of The Tote at 4am with two un-identified cardinals, had been organising an acceptance speech party at SXSW, which he has since had to cancel. Daft Punk impersonators were booked to perform. They are believed to have found another gig last night.

“It was going to be the biggest party SXSW had ever seen,” the source enthused. “Can you imagine the power of both the #SXSW and #Pope hashtags together at the one location? We had Twitter and Instagram on stand-by to bring in dedicated servers to deal with the extra traffic.”
Rogers was unable to comment to SPA Confidential today, but the source believes he is so distraught that he's locked himself in a studio to record a concept album dedicated to the ordeal.
