Every Friday, thousands of artists from across the globe release new music. It’s a lot to follow, week by week.
New Music Friday can be overwhelming, especially if you just want to hear a couple of singles here and there, and even more so if you’re trying to find new Australian music. That’s where The Music comes in.
With our weekly updated playlist, Friday Finds: This Week’s Best New Music, The Music’s team sifts through streaming services, social media, our inboxes, and elsewhere to find the best new homegrown music – as well as some banging international tracks – to present you with ten fresh new songs you need to hear.
This week, we have new music from REDD., Jack White, Georgia Fields, The Rolling Stones, and more. Before you listen to each track, though, here’s a bit more info on each one:
REDD. – Life
REDD. is pushing boundaries with their new single, life. Written in London alongside acclaimed producer Dan Carey (Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C.), the punchy and delightfully weird new tune explores themes of gender dysphoria, coming of age, and identity.

Dan Sultan – Forgiveness
With a new album on the way, which includes collaborator Guy Chambers – the genius behind Robbie Williams’ biggest hits – Dan Sultan is swinging from the fences with his new single, Forgiveness. He effortlessly blends ‘90s pop with gospel, commenting on the emotional number: “Forgiveness is high emotion, high energy, and high impact. Freedom.”
Adam Lambert – Cloud 9
Pop music trailblazer Adam Lambert has unveiled the energetic new track, Cloud 9. Starting with an intimate intro, the song gradually unfolds, highlighting synthesisers and Lambert’s incredible vocal prowess.

Georgia Fields is back with the slow-burning Night Swimming, a melodic tune ultra relatable with its themes of nocturnal overthinking. Along with her longtime collaborator, Josh Barber, the warm guitar riff is balanced against Fields’ lovely voice and crisp percussion.
The Rolling Stones – You Know I’m No Good
Covering Amy Winehouse is no easy feat, but The Rolling Stones have done it with grace with their take on You Know I’m No Good. Opening with the harmonica and containing brass melodies close to the original, it’s clear that Mick Jagger is having a great time delivering Winehouse’s lines.
Nothing But Thieves – Stray Dogs
After premiering their new song, the title track from their upcoming album, Stray Dogs, live on stage, Nothing But Thieves have released the official version. It calls back to the grand heights of their first LP, with Conor Mason sending his voice into the stratosphere as guitars circle around his voice.

With album #28 on the horizon, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are launching into a new era with the groovy, danceable new single, Level 5. The rave-focused track is accompanied by an exciting music video that features Underbelly star Vince Colosimo as the prolific band brings Alien Metal to life.
