Brisbane psych four-piece Shady Bliss are back with their first new goodies since last year's excellent debut EP, Old Boy, stepping out with sensational double A-side singles Perceptions and Something To Say.
Premiering on theMusic.com.au, the tracks showcase Shady Bliss' well-developed talents for crafting expectation-shirking, expansive soundscapes that shift and sway effortlessly and elegantly through jazz, fuzz-rock, soul, pop and other genre tenets.
Perceptions — the title track of the release — is especially steeped in lush jazz sounds and style, swirling around reverb-soaked evocations that bleed into easy-rock vibes and big harmonies. According to vocalist Chrissa Stilianos, "The tune is someone’s plea for you to think kindly of them, so they can embody those admirable discernments."
Follow-up cut Something To Say hits notes that recall The Cinematic Orchestra and Broken Social Scene in its welcoming drum line, ethereal guitar and hushed, multi-layered vocals, pulling the listener in early and refusing to relinquish its warm and inviting hold for the next four-and-a-half minutes.

The band don't presently have any shows in the pipeline, but you should definitely swing them a Like on Facebook to ensure you're in the loop the second they announce that they're next stepping out, because this is a band putting out an increasingly impressive catalogue of tunes, and you'll probably regret sleeping on it later.
