Melbourne trio The Sinking Teeth put their hometown's cultural diversity front and centre in new single Pavement, premiering on The Music today.
The track is the first (official) single to come from the three-piece's forthcoming debut full-length album, which is due for release in August. Following well-received predecessor Good Grief, the track cuts through as a surefire anthem for urban-dwelling souls, a scorching three-minute testament to the ways in which, despite our disparate stories and backgrounds, "We're all the same/ it's in our blood/ it's in our veins".
It's shouty, energetic, heart-on-sleeve, honest, makes-you-think punk-rock greatness, and it only serves to reinforce the notion that August can't get hear soon enough for us to get our hands on an album's worth of tunes from the Victorian standouts.
You won't have to wait that long before you're able to get out and experience the fun-filled ferocity of a Sinking Teeth show, however, with the band lining up two shows in Sydney and Melbourne next month to celebrate the new banger — they hit Brighton Up Bar with support from Maids and Kill Dirty Youth (plus more TBA) on Saturday 7 May, backing up the following weekend at home for a show at The Workers Club on Saturday 14 May with Self Talk, Have/Hold and Neighbourhood Youth.
