West Australian indie/emo luminaries Sully are planning on storming their way into people's ears with new single Into The Breach, premiering today on theMusic.com.au ahead of its official release next month.
With fundamentals honed around inspiration from the second-wave sounds of emo's first golden age in the early to mid-1990s, Sully have laced their sound with an undeniable pop sensibility fringed by evident post-rock and hardcore influences, which all tie together to give the band a cohesive sound all their own apart from the growing army of adenoidal angst-sufferers latching on to the scene's resilient rebirth.
The track came together with the production guidance of Tristan Sturmer, from Perth's Sumo Studios, and captures the band at a crucial moment in their journey, where they're still able to authentically sing of subjects such as "youth, inexperience, first loves and streaking" yet convey the message in a manner most mature.
The band will release Into The Breach independently on Friday, 8 May. They'll be launching it with a show at Babushka Leederville on Friday, 15 May, alongside Spilt Cities, Ice Age Sugar, Delay Delay and The Limbs.
