Originally the solo project of singer-songwriter Georgina Cramond, Boorloo-based band Ribs have been making a name for themselves with their powerful brand of indie rock & pop that often grapples with challenging topics involving mental health, social power constructs and healing from trauma.

Their new single Claws, out August 4 but premiering on Pilerats today is no exception, bringing difficult and often overlooked or considered too confronting situations to light in the form of a cathartic anthem that “explores the journey of healing from intimate partner violence.”

Wasting absolutely no time, Claws opens in a blaze of distorted guitars, piano and propulsive rhythm section before stripping things back with Cramond’s striking vocals, and building back up to its dynamic & commanding choruses.

Cramond shares, "Growing claws is about learning what you will no longer accept, how anger can be a protective and productive force, and regaining control over the jagged parts of your history."
