Victorian 'space-folk baroque-pop' duo CodaChroma are preparing for the release of their eagerly awaited debut full-length — and its accompanying launch show — next month but, before they hit the stage and unleash the album on the world, the band have generously bestowed The Music with the premiere airing of new track Ones & Ohs today.
The new jam is an exercise in meticulously constructed, eminently listenable lo-fi pop, boasting minor-key harmonies, effects-laden synths, pulsating percussion and a swathe of interwoven aural effects and instruments padding out the soundscape. The song stands as a testament to the synergy achieved by CodaChroma's individual parts — namely, Kate Lucas and Damien Charles — as Lucas' vocals soar and dance around Charles' thoughtful arrangements.
CodaChroma will launch their debut album — from which Ones & Ohs is lifted — at The Curtin, Carlton, on Friday 22 April. The launch show will feature an extended version of the band featuring Natalie Lewis on back-up vocals as well as live string and horn sections. The show will feature support from Mayfair Kites.
