Oh incase you missed the photos whenever they came out some years, Nairn is an actually legit DJ, so keep those chin-stroking hands in thy pockets, raver. RAVE OF THRONES Feat. Being one of the emerging stars from Australia in 2014, we caught up with him in some brief, and rare, down time to check in and see what’s been happening for these past few months! Old Crow Medicine Show on keeping the folk alive.

One of the best up and coming indie bands on the scene, Modern Baseball have created a name for themselves through their quirky and unique sound, both in the States and overseas. Their sophomore album, ‘You’re Gonna Miss It All’ recently dropped in Australia. As fans await for the band to venture over here, we caught up with frontman Brendan Lukens to talk about the record, songwriting and the concept of genre labels.

When Brad Smith of Heroes for Hire split ways with the band, the Australian pop-punk heavyweights slowly started to tread water. It was an interesting decision, which saw the local musical staple, part with a key cog. Yet out of this separation came a new form of bubbling melodies and energy; complete with its own identity. Cambridge offer up all the excitement and fun that was found within Heroes for Hire, but for Smith it provides a clean slate. Smith and co. have recently released their stellar debut album, ‘Create.Destroy.Rebuild’.With a powerful pop-punk aesthetic and driving pulse, the full-length is sure to win over fans by the play through and equally as Cambridge take to the stage over the next few years. We spoke with Smith about the full-length and just how Cambridge ticks in its infancy. We immediately probe Smith regarding the album title, with the musician stating it has an avid and almost poetic meaning. “We sat down and talked about album titles and it takes a while ...

For “hardcore” in the first half of 2014, there’s a common thread. The elite just seem to be getting better. Stalwart artists that populate and reside at the head of the genre have released some impressive albums. From established internationals to local up and comers, we look at the quality of material so far. Killyourstereo.com gives you the best and worst “hardcore” has offered (so far) – a mid year feature to discuss, debate and offer opinion.

Tasmanian man had his friends worried for a second there

Some behind the scenes footage/chit chat with TKST ahead of his EP release/tour.. We were really stoked to have Danny Harley AKA The Kite String Tangle play for us at CIRCO a few weeks ago. One of our favourite artists going around at the moment (check our text interview with him HERE), he just released his latest single Arcadia, an exceptional follow-up to his world-beating song of 2013, Given The Chance. We hung out with Danny a little while he was over here, and had a quick chat ahead of the upcoming release of his much-anticipated EP, Vessels (August 8, pre-order HERE). He'll be touring that come August/September, and you can check those dates below, followed by a short video at CIRCO. Heavy music is always a diverse and interesting field. With more sub-genres than bands to go around, there’s the potential for over-saturation, but in a glass half-full-type of thinking, equally the promise of more acclaimed albums. The first half of 2014 has again produced some punishing and solid music. Essentially, the good keep getting better, while the rest are found out. Killyourstereo.com gives you the best and worst “metal” has offered (so far) – a mid year report to discuss, debate and offer opinion.

Some sweet futuristic pop from Melbourne songstress Banoffee.. Ahead of the August release of her debut EP, Melbourne's Banoffee has given us a beautiful teaser in the form of new single, Got It. As producers down under start to expand on the 'Australian Sound' template, edgy, femme-led pop is looking like a very agree-able way forward for some. Got It moves towards something akin to Grimes before she went down the trap bangers path, with beautifully layered productions and a coo-ing chorus, I'm pretty excited to see what comes of Banoffee's EP, due next month on Two Bright Lakes. The Melbourne duo strip things back a notch.. Back Back Forward Punch are a Melbourne electronica two-piece who we've featured a couple of times before, and who rocked our socks when they supported Chela/Pyramid at the recent Kitsune Club Night parties. Solid Gold is their latest single, and it sees them exploring new realms of production and vocal work, for great results. Laura Boland's vocals, whilst delicate are still bold and uplifting, with Andy Liddell's ever on-point production brings the right amount of gravitas to a track that sits somewhere between electro-pop, trip-hop and neo soul. Did we mention it's free? Back Back Forward Punch - FACEBOOK // SOUNDCLOUD
