Video Interview: Ryan Hemsworth
Post-CIRCO hangs with dreamboat beatmaker Ryan Hemsworth.. Earlier this year when we dropped the first ever Pilerats Rat Pack Compilation (listen HERE and expect the next one soon!) and somehow we managed to score an exclusive track from the one and only Ryan Hemsworth (I say somehow but our Record Label boss is a smooth operator). It was an early proud moment in a constantly growing pile of proud moments in the world of Pilerats Records in 2014, which became even cooler when he came over to headline CIRCO Festival around the middle of the year (wrap video HERE). In the days following we spent a little time with the quietly spoken producer, and given he's just announced details for a new album - Alone For The First Time, due November 3 via Last Gang/Secret Songs, now's the time to share that chat.

Southbound Presents: Stagebound
A new format for Southbound's local band comp, and we're getting involved.. Southbound's local band comp is getting a little makeover in 2015 - putting the power of selecting the winner is your hands via voting system. Interested artists need to send Southbound their applications, from which they will finalise a shortlist of bands they feel have been working hard/making waves in the WA music scene. With a little help from reputable WA music media outlets The Music, Xpress and, urm... us, three finalists will be selected, and each media outlet will pick one finalist to root for during the month of November. All three finalists will be showcased one night in November (TBA), and finally, once your votes are tallied, the winner will be revealed. The winner of Stagebound will open the Big Top stage on Saturday 3 January at Southbound 2015, plus voters go in the running to win a double Happy Camper pass. Here's what you need to do:  ARTISTS If you would like your band to be considered as a f

Converse: Sneakers Would
Converse celebrate the FA14 Allstar collection by answering the question: What would sneakers do?. Your dirty pair of Cons have seen a lot of good times at gigs and parties no doubt. Converse Australia knows it, and wants you to personify those good times you’ve trod.  They’re the shoe that everybody can wear, no matter your scene or style, comfortably and confidently. And while the diverse range of individuals who wear Cons are all free, walking ads, the company’s had some pretty incredible marketing campaigns over the last decade. There was the Cons-as-corsets campaign in Japan, its 100 year anniversary campaign featuring ‘Icons of the 21st Century’ (including journalist Hunter S. Thompson, M.I.A., James Dean, Karen O, rapper Common and more, and its ‘timeless’ visual-art aligned campaign in 2005. Converse’s latest global campaign is maybe its best yet. Entitled ‘Shoes Are Boring’, it may just seriously compete with Nike’s iconic ‘Just Do It’. Here’s the gist of the campaign, as it e

Premiere: Leisure Suite EP Stream
An act we're very excited about has given us their debut EP a day early.. A few weeks ago we posted about Leisure Suite's new single Ease Away, the second track off their debut EP release, and as far as we were concerned it was two for two from the emerging Melbourne trio. Tomorrow sees the official release of that very EP, and we're very privileged to offer you the EP stream a day in advance. For such a young act, they already show a maturity and production nous beyond their years, bringing to mind a kind of mix of Foals, Alpine, The xx and Snakadaktal, exploring sultry, downbeat electronica, pinned down by vocalist Bridgette Le's soothingly seductive croon. The EP is a diverse four tracks, and firmly stamps Leisure Suite as one of this country's most exciting young electronic acts. They're launching it with a special show at Boney in Melbourne, supported by some of our other favourite Aussie acts in Lanks, Habits and Rat & Co DJs (more info HERE).  Follow Leisure Suite: FACEBOOK //

New: Peking Duk - Take Me Over feat. Safia
That tune you've heard live at all their shows is finally out.. After taking all and sundry in 2014 with their chart-smashing/world-beating/festival-slaying/AIR Award-winning/venue-selling-out single High feat. Nicole Millar, Peking Duk have finally dropped a tune they've been teasing at heaps of shows with Safia vocalist Ben Woolner-Kirkham - Take Me Over. It's another formidable slow-electro-jam, featuring Woolner-Kirkham's soaring falsetto, a thumping beat and driving synths that will no doubt continue to get arms up and, if their recent sell-out tour is anything to go by, boobs out. Or now. Or never. We don't mind. Get Trippy with Atlas Obscura Use Atlas Obscura, a site that tells you unusual travel locations around you, to discover some weird shit around the place and then take a leisurely joy drive out and have a gander, like the Giant Ram in Wagin or Dumbleyung Lake, the site of the first daredevil who ever broke both the land and water speed record in the same year. We’re going to throw in the abandoned Atlantis waterpark because it's too obscure even for Atlas Obscura’s map and its way closer (37 minutes from Perth) than the other two joints.
